I still remember my first time on an electric scooter. The silence hit me first, no engine noise, just the hum of the motor and the wind in my ears. That feeling of gliding through the roads is what gets me really excited about the TVS Orbiter Electric Scooter, launching on August 28, 2025.
What has me even more curious is TVS’s decision to put the Orbiter below the iQube series. We’re talking about a scooter priced under ₹1 lakh. For someone like me who’s always on the lookout for affordable EVs, this feels like TVS is opening the door for many first-time electric buyers.
Practical, Everyday Commuter
From what’s out so far, the Orbiter won’t be loaded with features. Instead, it’s being designed for what we really need on daily commutes, simplicity, reliability and a decent range. Reports suggest a 2.2 kWh battery, giving around 75-85 km of real-world range. It’s just right for me to ride to work, finish my errands and still have some charge left at night.
I imagine the Orbiter to be a clean, no-nonsense design, something conventional yet practical. A hub-mounted motor is likely, which means smoother maintenance and lower costs compared to mid-mounted ones. Honestly, that’s what we want: fewer headaches, more riding.
The Big Picture
The race is getting intense with Ola, Bajaj and Ather all pushing hard in the entry-level EV market. But TVS has one big advantage: its wide service network. For me, that peace of mind, knowing help is never too far, matters just as much as the specs on paper.
With the TVS Orbiter Electric Scooter, it feels like TVS is getting ready to pull more people into the EV bandwagon, not with fancy features but with a scooter that can fit into our daily lives seamlessly.
