The Wagon R is everywhere in India. It’s tall, it’s practical and for many families it’s the first choice simply because it’s easy to live with. Now for 2025, Maruti Suzuki has given it an update that actually matters: six airbags across all variants.
Safety Matters
For years the Wagon R had only two airbags which felt bare minimum. I’ve sat in older models and always thought, “This car is great in traffic, but what if something goes wrong?” Now with side and curtain airbags added, the car feels much more reassuring. It’s still the same Wagon R everyone knows, but safer for city runs and highway trips.
Engines Remain Familiar
Nothing much has changed mechanically and that’s not a bad thing. The 1.0-litre K10C engine still focuses on efficiency, the 1.2-litre K12N adds a bit more power. Honestly the smaller engine is already good enough for daily commuting. And for those who think about running costs before anything else, the S-CNG version still leads the pack with more than 34 km/kg mileage.
Everyday Comforts
Inside the car is same old same old. A 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering mounted controls, power windows and even hill-hold assist on select trims. Nothing fancy but everything you actually use on a daily basis.
What About Rumors?
There were talks of a 7-seater Wagon R or a new design facelift. None of that is true. This update is all about safety and not about changing the way the car looks.
The 2025 Suzuki Wagon R is still the same practical hatchback but now it comes with something you can’t put a price on: peace of mind. For families who just want a safe, reliable and economical car, this is a welcome step forward.
