I remember my first so-called gaming phone years back. Within ten minutes of playing PUBG, it would heat up so badly I had to put it down. That’s why this new Lava Play Ultra 5G, coming out on August 20, caught my eye. The idea of a proper gaming phone under ₹20,000 is hard not to get excited about.
Built With Gaming in Mind
From what I’ve read and seen, Lava has really focused on making this one a gamer’s phone. Think long BGMI matches without your screen stuttering or your fingers burning. A smooth, high-refresh-rate display with proper cooling, that already feels like a big step up from the usual mid-range devices.
Power Where It Counts
The phone comes with a strong processor tuned for gaming and, of course, 5G support. That means not just smooth offline play but also online matches where every small lag makes a difference. I’m personally curious to see if it can hold steady frame rates in back-to-back sessions. If it does, then honestly, this might be the budget pick a lot of young gamers are waiting for.
A Price That Stands Out
Under ₹20,000 is the part that really makes me smile. Most gaming phones cost double, sometimes more. Seeing Lava, a brand we’ve all seen in local stores for years, step up and challenge the big global names feels good. There’s a little sense of pride in it too.
I’ll be waiting to see how it actually performs once people get their hands on it. If Lava manages to deliver even half of what it’s promising, then the Play Ultra 5G could easily be the most exciting Indian launch this year.
